Snow update from Cllr Becky Rush

We are in the midst of a snow storm and I wanted to update you on SCC winter plan in case you needed to get out in your cars.

On the top of the Downs the division is in the ‘Domain D high routes gritting area’. This means even in normal circumstances that we often get increased gritting and salt levels per square metre; but today the updates tell me they are gritting all Priority 1 and 2 routes and this started at 4am today.

The snow ploughs for our area come from Godstone Depot, they are on standby 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Additionally in weather like this Surrey also use local contractors who have all the kit and grit on standby, plus there are 4x4s and snow angels ready to go to clear pavements too.

I have attached the SCC grit routes for our area for interest. Red is priority 1, blue priority 2. You can view it yourself by searching for "Surrey Winter Online Map".
