We are today formally announcing our manifesto from the Tandridge Council Conservative Group outlining our priorities over the coming year.
Supporting Local Business
As we recover from the pandemic, a Conservative-run Council will back local businesses by offering support to help our towns and villages to thrive.
Local businesses were badly affected during the pandemic and the previous Conservative administration assisted 1,500 local businesses by providing £18million in grants alongside establishing an Economic Task Forum to help and advise local businesses.
A new Conservative administration will bring in further support for our local businesses in Tandridge to help our communities thrive.
Protecting our Environment
We know how precious our green spaces and countryside are to Tandridge residents. Access to nature is key to better wellbeing and our green spaces are valued by local residents.
The current administration elected last year have made reckless planning policy decisions that have put our green belt at risk and have enabled the intensification of overdevelopment in Smallfield and Warlingham.
We will work to ensure that our green spaces and countryside are protected, preserved and enhanced to ensure residents have access to nature.
Caring for our Community
The most vulnerable in our community have been affected by inadequate and decrepit social housing, long waiting lists for council homes and isolation and loneliness during the pandemic.
A Conservative administration will strive to improve services for the most vulnerable in our communities by ensuring that more support for residents is provided by Tandridge Council and take steps to improve the condition of both Tandridge's housing stock and the stock of Housing Associations in the District.
We will also strive to make sure that local and affordable housing is made available to local people first so families can remain living close to each other without fear of being priced out of our District.
Making our area Safer
Some of our communities have been affected by catalytic converter theft, rural crime and anti-social behaviour.
The Police & Crime Commissioner for Surrey has secured £300,000 Safer Streets funding from the Home Office to tackle burglary in Godstone and Bletchingley, and local Conservative Councillors have been working with police to tackle catalytic converter theft in Warlingham and Caterham.
A Conservative administration will work with local police to make our area a safer place to live.
Listening to Residents
The Conservative Group will work to ensure that residents' concerns are considered and at the heart of decision making by Tandridge District Council.
Value for Money on Council Tax
A Conservative administration will work to ensure that council services are the very best they could be as well as being good value for money.
